Ladies, gentlemen, fellow ministry employees and dear students,

This is my first post following my appointment. I have extensively contemplated the speech that is expected of me. Yet have decided to opt for a different route. Behold here a pledge, to work my earnest to radically transform education in Egypt; to spare no effort, creativity, expense or decisiveness in taking positive strides towards achieving that goal. I still believe in our youth. I believe that the future of this country lies in reforming the education system. We are beyond the time of quick fix-its. This is a time for change. This is my pledge to you.
